2001: 4000 Mills made
Lucas
Mill were proud to sell their four thousandth mill to Rick and Brad Walker from
Eden NSW at the end of October. Lucas Mills are easily transported. Vivien
Ross takes his mill into steep country in New Zealand on his four wheeled
motorbike and other countries overseas use Buffalos, Canoes etc.
Owning
a Lucas mill is now cheaper than it has ever been with the introduction of our
new Model 613. They are priced lower than our original Model 6-16H/P was eight
years ago, even taking into account prices were tax exempt.
The
base priced mill still carries many of the features Lucas Mills have been known
for, including a full two year warranty on the engine as well as the frame. They
include a spare blade, twelve volts Mini Grinder and Diamond Wheel for easy
sharpening. The mills are powered by a 13H/P Honda engine and are pull start
only. The frame is similar to those used in our larger mills and employs the
same aluminum rails that are extruded in our price. The machines come standard
with a 4.2metre cut, this can be extended to 6.1metres and options are available
to extend even longer if required, with some operators cutting beams over fifty
feet. The machine shares its other components with the other 6 inch Lucas Mill,
Model 6-18 which is powered by an 18H/P Vangaurd from Briggs and Stratton. This
more powerful mill comes standard with electric start, 6.1metre cut, toolbox and
Centrifugal Clutch. All of which can be added to the Model 6-13 should the
operator want to up grade either when buying or at a later date.
At
the other end of our range comes the Model
825, this as you have probably worked out is an eight inch cut machine
that is powered by a 25H/P engine that happens to be a Kohler and the most
advanced air cooled V-twin engine available. These engines include features that
make them powerful, reliable and simple to maintain. They come standard with
automatic low oil pressure and high temperature cut outs should something go
wrong. They also include hydraulic valve lifters, nickel silicon cylinder boars
and oil cooler to make sure nothing does go wrong.
The
final machine in the Lucas line up is the 8 inch electric which is powered by a
15H/P three phase electric engine which offers quieter almost maintenance free
performance. The engine is rated at 15H/P at 100% duty cycle and in the real
world can out perform the Model 825. The machine has over load switches built
in, but will produce around 30 H/P when needed for a spike load caused by a knot
or tension in the timber. The trend of continuing export sales continue with
machines in over 60 countries and the USA taking close to 1,000 machines in
their own right.
